 Easy Steps To Clean Magna-Tiles

There are several reasons why you may need to clean your child’s Magna-Tiles.

Reasons can include maintaining their appearance (preventing discoloration) and hygiene, prolonging lifespan, preserving their strength, and preventing mold.

Here are 6 steps you can take to clean those Magna-Tiles!

  1. First and foremost, ensure you have all the materials necessary. You will need mild detergent, warm water, a soft cloth, a soft towel, and antibacterial wipes.
  1. Shake any loose dirt, dust, or crumbs off the tiles
  1. Take a damp cloth (only water) and wipe the tiles to remove leftover debris and smudges. A damp cloth is the best option to maintain the condition of the tiles
  1. For stubborn stains use a mild detergent on a soft cloth to rub them off. After this, wipe the tiles clean with a damp cloth to get rid of any soap residue
  1. To dry, wipe the tiles with a soft towel or let them air dry. Do not put them in sunlight as this can damage tiles
  1. For permanent marker stains use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser that is slightly wet and gently scrub the tiles for a few seconds.

Some Dos And Don’ts While Cleaning Magna-Tiles

While Magna-Tiles are fairly durable, there are certain precautions that need to be put in place to ensure they stay in the best condition possible.

Keeping Magna-Tiles in top shape means endless fun and educational opportunities for your children. Follow these Do’s and Don’ts to get the best out of your tiles!

  • Use a mild and non-abrasive cleaner
  • Use a damp cloth
  • Dry the tiles to prevent rusting and mold
  • Dry tiles using a soft towel or air-dry
  • Store tiles in organized bins to keep them separate from other objects and clean
  • Teach your kids how to look after the tiles and keep them in good condition.

  • Use a harsh cleaner or bleach
  • Submerge the tiles
  • Clean the tiles in a dishwasher
  • Allow water to remain on the tiles
  • Use a blow dryer on the hot setting
  • Store tiles aimlessly or where they could get dirty
  • Let kids play with them without clean hands
  • Encourage rough play.

Can you soak Magna-Tiles?

No. Magna-Tiles are not waterproof. Extended periods of time soaking in water may damage the plastic tiles’ durability. Soaking in any other substance such as harsh cleaner is also not a good idea if you want to ensure longevity.

Can you put Magna-Tiles in the dishwasher?

No, it’s not a good idea to put Magna-Tiles into the dishwasher. This is because doing so would mean they would be immersed in water. Moisture can leak inside the tiles and break down the plastic. Additionally, the harsh chemicals in dishwashing power could also damage the tiles.

What if I get water inside a magnetic tile?

If water ends up in your magnetic tile, try to remove it as soon as possible. This is crucial for preventing rust or mold. Drain the water by standing the tiles up vertically. You can also shake the tiles to get water out.
